LO3/4: Future Developments, Consideration Of Gap In The Market & Advertisers (The Daily Life Of A UTC Student)

Consideration Of Gap In The Market, Competition

Our competition would be other podcast that target students or attempt to sell their establishment to the audience.

In terms of a shows examples like BBC Radio Sheffield's Paulette Edwards & Anthony Radford would be our main competition. They mostly air at 13:00 and frequency is 88.6FM and 104.1FM. Also Hallam FM's Steve White will be a competitor. This is because they are local radio stations and would address similar target audience and play at a similar time.

We can provided a gap in the market due to how there is a distinct lack of podcasts aimed at younger people (those under 17). Therefore a podcast would fill a gap in the market for younger people specifically one that is informative about education, as a program like this has never aired before especially one aimed at the UTC since it is a recently established building.

 Future Developments

Our future developments are based around introducing our podcast in public places or schools so that the podcast can be shown to a wider audience and will gain a larger fan base. Possibly this could be played during lunch breaks for a more convenient time for students.

Advertising

Advertising will target small local businesses and maybe employers companies.

- Computers 4 Africa
- Awesome Walls Sheffield
- Barnsley College
- The University of Sheffield

These would fit into my demographic as well as being directly related to my show and audience. Colleges and universities relate to the audience since this can be an option for the audience to think about. Computers 4 Africa would provide a charity for the audience to support since the audience would be familiar with computers and may have one laying around that they can give away. Awesome walls Sheffield provides a local source of entertainment that is different to technology and provides and source of fun that would make you active.
This is because it is aimed at people from Sheffield and that Sheffield Lives cant earn more than 50% profit from the advertises.

Will your program use advertising to make a profit: NO

- Sheffield Live is a community radio station therefore cannot make profit.
